Point Restaurant for lunch and an engaging presentation: “Lenni Lenape: the Original People of Jersey”.
Journey back in time with Robin Sherry, Teacher-Naturalist, as she explores the early history of theLenni Lenape - also known as the Original People or Lenape - who lived, developed the land, and built a rich culture long before New Jersey was settled by colonists.
The Lenape tribes lived peacefully in villages throughout New Jersey well before European arrival. They interacted with the early colonists and shared vital knowledge that
helped newcomers survive in an unfamiliar land.
Robin will also discuss how Lenape descendants continue to preserve and celebrate their culture in today’s modern world.
